Uproar on Social Media after Video goes Viral

The distressing incident has generated widespread public outrage, leading to calls for strict measures against the doctors. Saurav, son of Awadhesh Kumar and a resident of Mainpuri, shared his ordeal, stating that he was admitted to the orthopedic ward where a doctor named Aman Srivastava assaulted him. The video capturing this incident rapidly circulated on social media, with netizens demanding decisive actions against the doctors. Additionally, a patient named Guddu Khan from Firozabad district had also accused Dr. P Das of assaulting him one day prior, further discouraging potential patients from seeking treatment at the hospital.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, District Magistrate Avinash Kumar Rai promptly assembled a five-member committee to conduct an inquiry and present their findings within a week. Prior to this, Vice-Chancellor Prabhat Kumar Singh had initiated an internal investigation, the results of which were submitted on Monday, confirming the doctors' culpability. The suspension of the guilty doctors was based on the committee's report. The Station House Officer (SHO) of the Saifai Police Station in Etawah confirmed to The Mooknayak about the registration of a case against the doctors under Sections 504 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Such behavior goes against the ethical standards of the noble medical profession. Doctors and nurses, often referred to as the saviors next to God, are expected to uphold the highest moral values. Regrettably, incidents of unethical behavior by medical professionals tarnish their reputation. It is important to acknowledge that doctors, like anyone else, can also experience stress, which may contribute to such misconduct.
