India's AI Ambitions Take Shape with New Centers of Excellence

PM Modi hails initiative as key step towards tech leadership

New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the establishment of three new Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centres of Excellence (CoE) in India. The centers, specializing in Healthcare, Agriculture, and Sustainable Cities, are a significant step towards India's goal of becoming a leader in technology and innovation.

The Prime Minister expressed his confidence in the initiative's potential, stating that the CoEs would empower India's youth and contribute to the nation's growth as a hub for future-oriented advancements. His comments were shared on X, in response to a post by Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan. In his post, Pradhan stated, " The 3 COEs in AI will emerge as temples of global public good! we have taken significant strides in strengthening Bharat’s credentials in the global AI landscape. The talent and zeal that Bharat is blessed with, in the times ahead, these CoEs will be a key element of global public policy and also emerge as solution-providers of the world."
