AIPWA Demands Permanent Ceasefire, End to War-Mongering Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

The association also condemned targeted online abuse against women like Himanshi Narwal, Shaila Negi, and Col. Sofia Quraishi for advocating peace or constitutional values.

New Delhi – The All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) has welcomed the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan but called for a permanent end to hostilities, emphasizing that war only brings "death, displacement, and devastation," with women, children, and marginalized communities bearing the brunt.

In a strongly worded statement, AIPWA praised peace-loving citizens on both sides of the border for resisting war hysteria and advocating dialogue. The group criticized both governments for relying on US mediation instead of engaging in direct diplomacy. "The ceasefire exposes their failure to listen to their own people," the statement read.

Key Demands Highlighted

AIPWA’s demands include:

  • A permanent ceasefire to prevent civilian casualties and a shift toward legal and diplomatic solutions to address terrorism.

  • An end to war propaganda that fuels hatred and diverts attention from pressing issues like poverty, unemployment, and gender inequality.

  • Solidarity with women-led peace movements in both nations.

  • A fair probe into the Pahalgam massacre, with accountability for perpetrators and security lapses—without exploiting the tragedy to justify war.

  • An end to media censorship and harassment of journalists, activists, and dissenters.

The association also condemned targeted online abuse against women like Himanshi Narwal, Shaila Negi, and Col. Sofia Quraishi for advocating peace or constitutional values.

"AIPWA stands with all women, workers, and peace-loving citizens who reject war and fight for justice, equality, and democracy," the statement asserted, urging cross-border solidarity to mount pressure for bilateral dialogue.
