Mumbai Police Intensify Probe as Allahbadia Misses First Summons

Mumbai- Mumbai police have issued a second summons to podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, asking him to appear for questioning on Friday regarding the controversy surrounding the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. Allahbadia, who had earlier been asked to appear by 3 p.m. on Thursday, failed to do so, prompting further legal action. The investigation, led by Khar police, has already recorded statements from seven individuals, including YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, content creator Apoorva Makhija, and Balraj Singh Ghai’s father, who owns The Habitat Studio. Production manager Tushar Pujari and three studio employees have also testified.

Meanwhile, comedian Samay Raina has been served a second summons by the Maharashtra Cyber Police, requiring him to appear on February 17. His legal team had earlier requested more time, citing his ongoing US tour. Despite Raina publicly apologizing and deleting all episodes of the show, the controversy continues to escalate. Police sources indicate that Pujari, who managed contestant selection, clarified that he only shortlisted 14 participants, with winners determined by the judges' scores.

The controversy erupted after Allahbadia’s remarks on India’s Got Latent—related to parents and sex—went viral, triggering massive backlash. Complaints have been lodged against Allahbadia and others involved, leading to investigations by both the Mumbai Cyber Cell and local police. Additionally, an Assam Police team has arrived in Mumbai to coordinate with Maharashtra authorities regarding the case.
