Commerce Minister urges industry bodies to leverage global networks to showcase India's tourism offerings

New Delhi- Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, addressed the Annual Plenary Session of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in New Delhi today, urging industry associations to play a key role in promoting tourism, supporting startups, and fostering women entrepreneurship.

Emphasizing the tourism sector's potential, Goyal called upon industry bodies to leverage their global networks to showcase India's tourism offerings. He stressed the need to address the language barrier by promoting language skill development, which could open up job opportunities in sectors like interpretation and tour operation.

Goyal also highlighted India's growing prowess in areas like AI, machine learning, and data analytics. He urged industry leaders to share India's story of economic progress, aiming to propel the nation from being the world's fifth-largest economy to the third.

The Minister drew attention to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra of "Reform, Perform, Transform" and emphasized the need for increased effort and commitment to achieve ambitious goals. He cited the government's focus on empowering youth through digital connectivity and urged industry participation in providing skill development and employment opportunities.

Goyal commended the ICC for its inclusivity and for providing leadership opportunities to young professionals. He praised the organization for being the voice of 35 various sectors.
