AAP alleges BJP involvement, BJP denies accusations

New Delhi- Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was allegedly attacked with water by a protester on Saturday during a padyatra in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar colony. The incident occurred while Kejriwal was interacting with the public. The attacker, identified as Ashok Jha, was immediately detained by police.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters allege that the attacker was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), an accusation the BJP has denied. Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor questioned why such incidents only seem to occur with Kejriwal, despite his security cover. The AAP took to social media to express their concern, claiming that even a former CM of Delhi is now not secure in the city.

This incident follows a visit by Kejriwal earlier in the day to the Panchsheel Park colony, where he met with the family of 64-year-old Rohit Kumar Alagh, who was murdered on Monday. Kejriwal met with the family of Rohit Kumar Alagh, who was murdered in Panchsheel Park, and expressed his condolences. He emphasized the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, citing the murder and the prevalence of extortion calls.

"The family of the victim is in deep shock," Kejriwal stated, emphasizing the sense of insecurity felt by residents, particularly senior citizens and business owners, who are reportedly facing extortion calls. He urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take immediate action to address the rising crime rate in the capital. Kejriwal said the murder in the upscale Panchsheel Park colony revealed that no one is safe in the city. He added, “There is panic in Delhi with the spurt in crime and I want to ask Union Home Minister Amit Shah to control crime. I hope things will improve in the near future.”
