Jaipur- The political standoff in the Rajasthan Assembly took an emotional turn on Tuesday when Speaker Vasudev Devnani broke down in tears during proceedings, claiming that State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra had used abusive language toward him.

Visibly shaken, Devnani addressed the House saying, "I have been a member of this House for five terms, but I have never heard such words before. I have always remained impartial, yet these baseless allegations deeply hurt me." The Speaker went further to question Dotasra's suitability for office, stating, "After hearing all this, I feel he is not even fit to be an MLA, but I leave this decision to the House."

The Assembly has been at an impasse for five consecutive days, initially sparked by a controversial reference to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as "Dadi" (grandmother) by a state Minister. Tensions escalated Tuesday morning when suspended Congress legislators attempted to force their way into the Assembly, resulting in a confrontation with security personnel.

Speaking outside the Assembly, Dotasra maintained that there had been no discussion about a personal apology in prior agreements and pointed to disagreements within the government. Congress leaders demonstrated outside the legislature for approximately an hour to protest the suspension of their colleagues.

The situation deteriorated Monday when Dotasra allegedly made disrespectful comments about the Speaker after the day's session ended, further complicating efforts to reinstate the six suspended Congress MLAs.

State Minister Jawaharsingh Bedham told reporters that "those responsible for making the Speaker teary eyed will have to pay the cost," suggesting potential repercussions for the incident.

With suspended legislators now prohibited from entering the chamber, the political deadlock shows no immediate signs of resolution.
