New Delhi- In a statement given after a discussion on the working of the agriculture ministry and farmers' welfare by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, it was said that there are problems in agriculture and solutions are also there. The minister said that he will discuss the issues with the farmers and their unions.

"We will move towards solutions through dialogues. We will go ahead by taking everyone together," he said. He also said that no stone will be unturned in the welfare of agriculture and farmers.

It is to be noted that Congress had recently raised the issue of misleading the House by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a press conference. According to Congress MPs Randeep Singh Surjewala and Digvijaya Singh, Chouhan had told lies to the House about the minimum support price given to farmers.

Surjewala said that while the Prime Minister has always claimed to provide farmers with the minimum support price on input costs and 50 percent more, in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court on February 6, 2015, the BJP government had said that it was not possible. He questioned the truth of what the government had said.

The Union Agriculture Minister slammed the opposition leaders in the Rajya Sabha for not prioritizing the farmers. He said that the Congress party itself had not made a scheme like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, which was being made by the BJP government. Due to this Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the farmers have become self-reliant and have also become empowered.
