New Delhi- Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, emphasized the urgent need to expand storage infrastructure to minimize post-harvest losses and stabilize prices across different seasons. His remarks came during a Stakeholder Consultation on Horticulture Clusters and Value Chain Development, with a particular focus on vegetable clusters, held in New Delhi today.

Thakur highlighted the importance of supporting smallholder farmers through the establishment of farmer-producer organizations and the development of clusters that offer essential infrastructure. He underscored the need for market access and sustainable solutions that ensure long-term benefits at the grassroots level.

In addressing the ongoing issue of malnutrition among children, Thakur called for a sector-wide commitment to ensure that every child has access to fruits and vegetables. He urged stakeholders to prioritize farmers in their discussions and work towards solutions that maximize their profits.

The event gathered a diverse group of stakeholders, including farmer groups, government agencies, ministries, startups, and private sector participants, to discuss and shape the future of agriculture in India.
