Ministry of Agriculture to Plant 80 Crore Saplings by September End

Initiative aims to plant 140 crore saplings by March 2025

New Delhi- The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will set up “Matri Van” in about 1 acre of land. The initiative is part of the #एक_पेड़_मां_के_नाम #Plant4Mother campaign of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with other officials of the Ministry, participated in the planting ceremony to start the # Ekonomi_Pendeڑ_Maa_Cultik #Plant4Mother campaign. The minister said that the Prime Minister launched the # Ekonomi_Pendeڑ_Maa_Cultik #Plant4Mother campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, with the goal of ensuring the planting of 80 crore saplings across the country by September 2024 and 140 crore saplings by March 2025.

Union Minister requested to all officers/ employees and the school student present during the occasion for participating in the movement and to pay their respect to their mother and mother earth by planting trees.​ The initiative has immense potential for preventing and reversing land degradation and desertification. In addition, trees will also help in improving the soil, water quality and increase biodiversity in the environment.
