Edu Minister Madan Dilawar stated that the books glorified the perpetrators of the Godhra incident and presented incorrect information regarding the incident, thus misleading students.

Jaipur- Books referencing the Gujarat riots have now been recalled by the Rajasthan government. Initially, a different reason was cited for the recall, but subsequent explanations have ignited political tensions.

Initially, it was claimed that there were some technical issues in the books that needed correction before they could be suitable for reading. For example, issues with print quality were mentioned, along with discrepancies on certain pages, which were said to potentially hinder students’ reading experience. As a result, these books were recalled.

However, the situation took a political turn when state Education Minister Madan Dilawar disclosed a different reason for the recall. Dilawar stated that the books glorified the perpetrators of the Godhra incident and presented incorrect information regarding the incident, thus misleading students. He mentioned that the books suggested that those who burned the train in the Godhra incident were Hindus and even referred to them as criminals, which, according to him, misrepresents the information given by the Gujarat government at that time.

Additionally, Dilawar accused former Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra of approving the publication of this book during his tenure, to which Dotasra responded by rejecting the claims outright, calling them baseless and entirely untrue.
