New Delhi- As part of the lead-up to the 10th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF), the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), organized an outreach event in Amarapur, Gandhinagar on October 17. Approximately 500 students between the ages of 14 and 18 participated in the event, which aimed to raise awareness about IISF and its mission.

The India International Science Festival is an annual celebration of India's scientific accomplishments, fostering opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing. As part of its 10th edition, IISF 2024 will bring together scientists, industry leaders, students, and the public to engage in discussions on how science can shape India's future as a global leader in technology and innovation.

Dr. Arvind C Ranade, Director of NIF, addressed the students, providing insights into the origins and evolution of IISF since its inception in 2015. He emphasized the festival’s vision for 2024—A Prosperous Bharat in Harmony with Modern Infrastructure and Nature, and its goal to transform India into a global science and technology-driven manufacturing hub. Dr. Ranade encouraged students to explore the festival's resources, including its web portal, and to actively participate in programs such as the Student Science Village.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Madhvi Joshi, Joint Director of the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre (GBRC), urged students to engage with the upcoming IISF activities. Other notable attendees included Shri Jignesh Borisagar, Prant Secretary of VIBHA, and Shri Amrutbhai Patel, Director-Trustee of Grambharti Sanstha.

The event also featured an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations developed by NIF, offering students a first-hand look at the potential of scientific advancements.
