Etawah- Former BSP district president Balveer Singh Jatav from Muunj village in Etawah's Chaubia police jurisdiction filed a case in January this year against two individuals for allegedly assaulting him. He now claims that the accused are pressuring him to settle the matter and have threatened to kill him.

In a petition submitted to the court, Balveer alleged that on the night of January 8 at around 12 a.m., Chaubia SHO Mansoor Ahmed beat up his neighbor Arjun. When Balveer questioned the SHO about the incident, he was also subjected to verbal abuse, pushed to the ground, and beaten. When he attempted to record a video, the SHO allegedly snatched his phone and deleted the footage. According to Balveer, local individuals, Sachin and Anurodh, issued death threats at the behest of the SHO. However, when Balveer approached the police station to file a report, he was turned away by the SHO.

Following a court directive, an FIR was registered on January 11, 2024, against Sachin and Anurodh under Sections 506 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code based on Balveer's complaint. In the complaint, Balveer accused the two of issuing death threats and attempting to implicate him in false cases.

Speaking to The Mooknayak, Balveer stated, “My neighbor, a Dalit boy, was being taken away by the police late at night while hurling casteist abuses. When I objected, the police used the same language against me. The SHO instructed locals Sachin and Anurodh to threaten me. I have an audio recording of the threats. Despite complaints to the Superintendent of Police and the ADG, no action was taken. Finally, I sought court intervention, and only then was the FIR registered.”

However, on November 11, an FIR was filed against Balveer under Sections 115(2), 352, 351(3), and 109 of the Indian Penal Code based on a complaint by one Pradeep Kumar. Pradeep alleged that Balveer fired at him with the intent to kill and physically assaulted him.

Balveer denied the allegations, calling the FIR baseless and fabricated. He claimed, “These individuals are conspiring together, and the police are supporting them. The allegations against me are entirely false.”

Four days later, another FIR was filed against Balveer by Anurodh Kumar, one of the accused in the January FIR. Anurodh alleged that Balveer pushed and assaulted him and identified himself as a person with disabilities. Based on his complaint, the police filed a case under Sections 115(2), 352, and 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code.

The two complaints have caused significant distress for Balveer, who told The Mooknayak, “This is happening because this area is dominated by Yadavs, and I am a Dalit. I am not being heard anywhere. I continue to receive death threats, and now false cases have been registered against me.”

SHO Booked Following Court Order

In a separate case, on October 19, the Chaubia SHO, Mansoor Ahmed, was booked under Section 506 of the IPC and Sections 3(1)(d) and 3(1)(g) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. This followed a complaint by Munni Devi, a Dalit woman and Balveer’s neighbor, who alleged that the SHO deliberately harassed her son Gautam under the influence of certain individuals and threatened to implicate him in false cases.

When Munni Devi escalated the matter to the Superintendent of Police, the SHO reportedly grew more hostile. It is worth noting that the same SHO was earlier accused by Balveer of using casteist slurs and instigating locals to threaten him. Despite the allegations, the accused SHO remains posted at a nearby police station, raising concerns about potential interference in the investigation.

Balveer expressed fears that the SHO's current position might allow him to manipulate the case. He has submitted complaints on the Chief Minister's grievance portal seeking justice. Copies of all registered FIRs related to the case are available with The Mooknayak.
