Lucknow/Delhi— A Dalit family, which was made to run away from their village by the dominant caste members in Eta district in Uttar Pradesh held a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The family has been forced to make rounds of the government offices for the past 2 years as they were denied justice by the officials. According to the applicant, the accused Anil Yadav, Rajendra Yadav, Neeraj Yadav and Pramod Yadav had forcibly grabbed the land of Sunil Kumar Valmiki of Nagla Fakir village in Eta district of Uttar Pradesh.

Terror of Dominant Caste Pushed the Family out of Village

Speaking to The Mooknayak, Sunil Valmiki told that he had gone to Gorakhpur to meet Yogi Adityanath at the janta darbar but could not meet him. The OSD to Chief Minister present there heard my grievance regarding the land grabbing and called the SDM putting my case, which helped me in getting the possession of the land. However, the Yadav community members occupied the land again and killed my father in 2019. “They threatened to kill me and my family members; we escaped from the village to Noida and work in the housekeeping job.” Adds Valmiki.

Pleas to SC/ST Commission went unheard

He said that he reached out to the National SC/ST commission and he has been making the rounds of the commission for the past 2 years, but to no avail. He said that “when I first reached there the officials tried to dismiss me by saying that you have got the compensation, when your father got murdered humiliated him.

“The Director Sanjay Singh said threw my file and said that you have to bring five witnesses from scheduled castes, but from where can I get five witnesses when I am the alone member of scheduled castes in my village and the whole village is dominated by the Yadavas. “ asks Sunil

Sunil says that two FIRs have been lodged but no action has been taken and the accused continue to roam free. It is their habit to usurp land of the poor, one of their sons is in UP Police and this prevents any action against them. I have settled in Noida, where I change my place of work every 2-3 months to avoid tracing by the accused , who are on a look out for me. Sunil sat on a dharna at Jantar Mantar for a day as he had been permitted for a day only.
