Madhya Pradesh: SC Commission sends notice to Honda car company in a case of customer fraud

Ankit Pachauri

Bhopal— In Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, a case of customer fraud with a young person by the Honda car company has come to light. In this matter, the Madhya Pradesh State Scheduled Castes Commission has sent a notice to Smart City Honda of Bhopal.

It is mentioned in the notice of the (SSCC) State Scheduled Castes Commission that Hemant Singh had bought a Honda Amaze car, in which a free service was included, as per the rules. But when Hemant went to the Honda workshop to have his car serviced, they refused to do so. At this time, Hemant came to know that the warranty of the car had expired on 27 February 2021, seven months before the date of purchase of the car. The commission has written in the letter that false information was provided in the affidavit submitted to the Transport Department, and in which an employee of Smart City Honda had forged the signature.

The Mooknayak spoke to the complainant Hemant Singh on the matter. Hemant told us that, "On 13 October 2021, I went to the Smart City Honda, Win-Win Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. showroom on Hoshangabad Road in Bhopal. Jayant Vishwakarmaattended to me, after which Jayant introduced me to the person in charge, Jitendra Yadav. Jitendra met me with great enthusiasm and asked my name. I told him it was Hemant. After this, Jitendra found out my caste, and from then on his attitude towards me changed."

In the conversation with The Mooknayak, Hemant said that even today, educated people working in corporate companies in urban areas fall prey to caste mentality. "I was surprised to see that even today, it is my caste that is more important than my work and my name."

Hemant also said that when he had gone to get the car from Smart City Honda, he had been told that the company provided three liters of petrol with the car. So he had driven away with confidence that there was enough petrol in the car. However, after going just a little ahead, the car stopped because it had no petrol. He had felt then that the company employees had lied to him that they had put petrol in the car.

Later, when he went to Honda's workshop in the Govindpura area of the city to get the car serviced, he found that the vehicle's warranty had expired seven months before the date of purchase. At the same time, he realized that his signature had been forged on the affidavit submitted to the Transport Department. "I was disturbed by Smart City Honda and their casteist mindset, so I put in a complaint about the matter to the Scheduled Castes Commission," Hemant told us. Accordingly, the Commission has sent a notice to Kush Khanduja, the CEO of Smart City Honda, in connection with the fraud committed against Hemant. When The Mooknayak tried to speak to Honda's Kush Khanduja on the phone, he hung up the call immediately after hearing our questions about the incident.
