New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a slew of health sector projects worth approximately Rs 12,850 crore at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. The launch coincided with the 9th Ayurveda Day.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) to cover all senior citizens aged 70 and above. This move underscores the Prime Minister's commitment to providing quality healthcare to all.
PM Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several healthcare institutions. These included Phase II of India's First All India Institute of Ayurveda, equipped with a Panchakarma hospital and an Ayurvedic pharmacy. Further bolstering healthcare infrastructure, the Prime Minister inaugurated three medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh and expanded services at various AIIMS nationwide.
Emphasizing the role of technology in healthcare, PM Modi launched drone services at 11 Tertiary Healthcare Institutions and Helicopter Emergency Medical Services from AIIMS Rishikesh. Furthermore, he launched the U-WIN portal to digitize pregnancy and child vaccinations, ensuring timely access to life-saving vaccines.
