Ranchi, Jharkhand: The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), in collaboration with the Society of Geo-Scientists Jharkhand (SGSJ), hosted a national seminar on "Mineral Exploration & Water Resource Management: Recent Trends" on Saturday. The one-day seminar focused on the crucial issues of strategic and critical mineral resources and water resource management, encompassing both surface and groundwater, with a particular emphasis on the state of Jharkhand.

Shri Manoj Kumar, CMD of CMPDI, inaugurated the seminar. CMPDI, in collaboration with SGSJ, organized a national seminar on "Mineral Exploration & Water Resource Management: Recent Trends" with a focus on Jharkhand. The seminar, inaugurated by CMD Manoj Kumar, addressed pressing issues related to strategic and critical mineral resources and water resource management, encompassing both surface and groundwater. Technical sessions included oral presentations based on submitted abstracts and keynote addresses from experts within and outside the organization. Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, addressed the audience as the Chief Guest via video conference. She commended CMPDI for selecting a contemporary theme and emphasized the need for sustainable mining practices and efficient water resource management. The seminar featured technical sessions with oral presentations and keynote addresses by experts from various organizations.

Shri Kumar highlighted the significance of the seminar in showcasing CMPDI's commitment to its vision of being a leader in the earth resource sector. He emphasized the importance of discussing Jharkhand's mineral wealth and exploring innovative approaches to mineral exploration and groundwater management.

The seminar saw the presentation of 22 papers, including six keynote addresses, and welcomed around 300 delegates.Attendees included representatives from GSI, NTPC, SAIL, MECL, Ranchi University, Central University of Jharkhand, and IIT-ISM Dhanabad.
