New Delhi- Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), chaired a review meeting of the Country Programme Advisory Committee (CPAC) to evaluate the progress of the United Nations World Food Programme’s (UN WFP) Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2023-2027. The CSP aims to enhance food security and nutrition in India through strategic partnerships, capacity building, and technical support. The plan focuses on four key areas: improving national food-based social protection systems, increasing the consumption of nutritious foods, enhancing the social and financial mobility of women, and building climate-resilient livelihoods.

During the meeting, WFP Country Director Elizabeth Faure briefed the committee on ongoing initiatives, including agricultural transformation projects in Assam, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, and efforts to mainstream millets and optimize the Public Distribution System (PDS). Other notable initiatives discussed were the introduction of grain ATMs under the Annapurti scheme, resilience-building for fishing communities through the 'Secure Fishing' App, and school nutrition programs.
