New Delhi - Punjab Congress leaders held a press conference in Delhi today, cautioning residents about what they call "fake and bogus" promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal. The leaders specifically targeted AAP's promise of a Rs 2,100 monthly stipend to women, claiming that a similar promise made in Punjab three years ago remains unfulfilled.
Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa addressed the gathering at Vijay Chowk, joined by AICC treasurer Ajay Maken and Delhi unit chief Devender Yadav. They accused AAP of failing to deliver on key promises made during their three years in power in Punjab.
Warring highlighted the unfulfilled promise of the Rs 2,100 stipend, stating that Kejriwal had claimed he would generate the necessary funds through sand mining and curbing corruption. He also announced that Punjab Congress leaders will extensively campaign across Delhi during the assembly elections to inform people about AAP's ‘fake promises'. Bajwa echoed these concerns, calling AAP's promises a "fraud of the century" and urging Delhi residents to vote for the Congress party instead. Partap Bajwa contrasted the current AAP government with the previous 15-year Congress rule under Sheila Dikshit, which he characterized as a period of progress.
Ajay Maken, who has previously referred to Kejriwal as "Farziwal" (a play on the word "fake" in Hindi), reiterated his criticism, stating that the Punjab Congress leaders' revelations validate his claims. He promised to provide further details during a press conference at the Delhi PCC office on Sunday.
