New Delhi- In a major operation on September 5, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized gold, silver, and unaccounted cash worth ₹4.01 crores at New Delhi Railway Station. Acting on a tip-off, the RPF team inspected several incoming trains and uncovered 24 suspicious packages from four different trains. The packages contained 498 grams of gold bars, 365 kilograms of silver, and ₹85.72 lakhs in cash.

The operation was conducted in collaboration with the Income Tax Department, who is further investigating the seized items. This incident was part of a larger RPF effort to ensure safety and security during the Assembly Elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir.

Between August 16 and October 5, 60 companies of the RPF were deployed across the two states. During this period, the RPF intercepted illegal goods worth ₹12.86 crores, including narcotics, smuggled liquor, unaccounted cash, and other items that could have potentially influenced voters.

"Every election is a pivotal moment for our democracy," said Shri Manoj Yadava, Director General of the Railway Protection Force. "Through targeted contraband seizures and vigilant monitoring, we are here to protect that moment. I commend Team RPF for their unwavering dedication and hard work, ensuring the security of our railways and empowering every citizen to participate in the democratic process with confidence."

The RPF's actions played a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the elections and demonstrated the force's commitment to ensuring a free and fair electoral process.
